Turów by Bike - Cycling for a cross-border coal phase-out region

It is time to build bridges across borders for a sustainable future. We want to plan a coal exit region together and cycle with our neighbors for a green Europe without coal. Poland continues to operate the Turów opencast coal mine even against the decision of the European Court of Justice and the German coal phase-out is also too late!

On Sunday, August 29, we will start a tour "Turów by Bike - Cycling for a cross-border coal phase-out region". We start at 10 am at the main station in Zittau and cycle once around the entire Turów open pit mine, stopping and passing different places in Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic. We will end with a gathering and open mic round at the market in Zittau at 3pm.

Join our action - from the beginning or come along on the way!

10am - Zittau - start at the main station
11 am - Drausendorf
12pm - Hirschfelde - photo action with banners & picnic
1 pm - Bogatynia
2 pm - Hrádek nad Nisou
3 pm - Zittau - market - gathering & open mic

About Us

Our organizations jointly counteract the expansion of the open-cast Turów lignite mine in Poland for the benefit of local communities, nature and climate. We support civic activities undertaken by the international community at the interface of the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. We strive to make the lignite-dependent Bogatynia enter the path of energy transition as well as economic and social transformation.
